WELCOMING ADDRESS

Dear colleagues,

It is a great pleasure to invite you to the 2nd One-day Course in Interventional Pulmonology entitled: “The Endoscopic Management of Severe Pulmonary Emphysema Phenotype of COPD”, which will be held on October 13, 2018 at the hotel Nikopolis, Thessaloniki, Greece.

This course is the second of the courses in Interventional Pulmonology, organized annually by the Pulmonology Clinic of the European Interbalkan Medical Center, Thessaloniki, Greece. As this field of pulmonology is growing rapidly, it has become a real challenge not only for pulmonologists but for thoracic surgeons, pathologists and radiologists as well.

It is well known that 600.000 of the population in Greece (8.5%) suffer from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), while 5.000 (1%) of them suffer from severe pulmonary emphysema, which results in poor quality of life and high mortality despite being treated.

In this course, dear colleagues, experts in the endoscopic techniques with international recognition not only from Greece, will try to impart their knowledge and their experience on modern therapeutic procedures for the severe pulmonary emphysema, not well known in our country, especially in Northern Greece. This fact, in combination with your active participation will guarantee the success of this course.
I am looking forward to seeing all of you. Thank you very much, indeed.

Best regards,
For the Organizing Committee
